This is a masterpiece, let's get that straight... it's not a mediocre album by some mainstream band, but the masterpiece of the Smashing Pumpkins, the post-grunge band that was the last to successfully connect the catchy sound of pop to the world of "acid" and aggressive music that skillfully blends hard rock and hardcore punk.

The list of songs is long, and there are many unforgettable tracks starting with "Bullet With A Butterfly Wings" which has rightly become one of the anthems of pain and the emptiness of the '90s alongside Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," how can anyone forget the maniacal chorus repeated in Billy Corgan's screechy voice (which will never again reach such artistic heights) "The world is a vampire, sent to drain/ Secret destroyers, hold you up to the flames..." and then "Zero", a distorted ballad with a Joy Division flavor in the guitar riff that repeats throughout, the gleeful and melancholic "1979" with very radio-friendly soft tones (but with the wisdom of not overdoing it) and the "symphonic" and majestic love-ballad "Tonight Tonight", and then the practically perfect rock tracks in their place while listening, like "Here Is No If", "Muzzle", "Thru The Eyes Of Ruby" some industrial incursions, some acoustic pieces with whispered vocals and finally a song I consider the best on the album: "Farewell And Goodnight" with which the album closes, which is apocalyptically pessimistic yet sweetly hopeful at the same time.

If you think about the fact that it was released in '95, you realize it's astonishing... because in '95, such high-value mainstream products were virtually nonexistent.
