Going from memory, I believe it was Billy Corgan who said that a band can't produce more than three, at most four high-level albums before losing inspiration or endlessly repeating themselves, and he followed this theoretical statement with a rather sad practical demonstration considering the excellent first part of the Pumpkins' career.

In my opinion, this latest production, which at first glance seems to rely heavily on a nostalgia effect for fans of "Gish" or "Siamese Dream," proves to be not a masterpiece but an honest work with some quality peaks (at least four songs out of ten wouldn't look out of place on the aforementioned two albums), a couple of fillers that aren't as dreadful as in "ATUM" or "Cyr," and the rest is, all things considered, decent.

What I like

"Edin," "Pentagrams," "Sighommi," "Sicarus," the four songs I mentioned.

What I don't like

Listening to it multiple times tends to tire, it lacks the variety of the Pumpkins' best works, and I've never been a fan of their ballads, but I would have expected something more inspired than "Pentecost."

Overall judgment is still positive, I would recommend it to an old fan of the group not so much for the already mentioned nostalgia effect as for the fact that it "sounds" good for a large part of the album.
