American garage-psychedelic band formed in Los Angeles in 1965 by Sky Saxon (vocals/bass), Daryl Hooper (keyboards), Jan Savage (guitar) and Rick Andridge (drums). Known for organ-driven arrangements and singles such as "Pushin' Too Hard" and "Can't Seem to Make You Mine."

Sky Saxon was born Richard Elvern Marsh (20 August 1937) and died 25 June 2009 in Austin, Texas. The band's self-titled debut (1966) and the live-styled Raw & Alive (1968) are central to their reputation; they were associated with the Los Angeles garage/psychedelic underground and were labeled 'flower punk' in contemporary accounts.

DeBaser hosts two complimentary reviews that celebrate The Seeds' raw, organ-driven garage-psychedelic sound and Sky Saxon's flamboyant vocals. The coverage focuses on the 1966 self-titled debut and the 1968 Raw & Alive live-styled record, highlighting classics like "Pushin' Too Hard" and "Can't Seem to Make You Mine."

For:Fans of 1960s garage and psychedelic rock; collectors of vintage live-styled recordings.

Probably never more than in this case, the term (seminal band) proves appropriate.
