THE REVIEW

This album is the predecessor of "Solve et Coagula," the record of their definitive artistic consecration and well-deserved international recognition, which led them to sign with the mighty "Southern Lord."

Dark and noisy tracks dominate this work, inspired by the grimmest Converge and Cursed, with a nod to black metal and certain drone openings. Deep guitars and thick, wicked, furious vocals, supported by aggressive and nervous drumming. There are no glimmers of light or redemption, a murky and unsettling album from the first to the last note. However, let's be clear; there's no dull moment, the tracks flow one after another, and in the end, you're left wanting more. My favorite track is "Inferno," while the official video is for "Funeral Monolith," which indeed embodies the entire poetics of this work.

Let's dive into the darkness.

Note: The Secret is the evolution of the vegan hc group "From The Dying Sky," active from 1999 to about 2003. Here they are here.
