How I loved the Replacements' album
which had two little dogs and nothing more on the cover
lost in the rain, in the fog, and in the mud.
That's how they felt deep down
devastated by drugs and alcohol
and by the dream of this morning called youth.
That's how they felt deep down
and saw in the dream vanishing
the sacred reasons to say “everything is falling down.”
But I didn't buy that album
because with what records cost today
you only buy the essentials
because with what records cost today
I hardly buy any more.
But I looked at it, through a window
how I liked it... it was raining like that.
Federico Fiumani, "The Replacements' Album"
An album that seals the Mats’ parabola, even if there is very little, nothing left of them. In fact, this work will be remembered as the first in Westerberg's solo career.
What else to add? Don’t buy it. Because with what records cost today...
