THE REVIEW

Maybe someday in life you'll find yourself facing a big Texan in a shirt who holds up his pants with suspenders. He has a shrill voice and carries a Telecaster. On that day, remember that Mayo Thompson is a damn guitarist. Really.

"Blues, Hollers and Hellos" is a five-track EP by Red Krayola released by Drag City of Chicago (Illinois) in 2000. Mayo Thompson in this adventure, yet another, is accompanied by Christopher Williams, John McEntire (Tortoise, The Sea and Cake, Gastr Del Sol...) and by the German painter and musician Albert Oehlen. This album lasts more than forty minutes. Forty-one minutes in which anything can happen. Everything happens.

I'll take another round.

God bless Mayo Thompson, and all those who sail in his company.

The Red Krayola

The Red Krayola is an American experimental rock group formed in 1966 in Houston, Texas by Mayo Thompson. From the psychedelic upheaval of The Parable of Arable Land to post‑punk abrasion on Soldier‑Talk and later Drag City releases, the project has remained a restless force in avant‑rock, often collaborating with artists tied to the Art & Language collective.
