If you read Progressive, don't get me wrong.
You're not facing the Genesis of the new millennium, but something entirely new. Just read this:
"We like to think of ourselves as something that stands halfway between epic bands like Pelican, Neurosis, Isis, etc., and atmospheric rock bands like Dredg, Codeseven, Paulson, Engine Down, and so on. So throw us into avant-garde art rock à la King Crimson and The Dillinger Escape Plan, and you're there". - Chris Alfano (The Postman Syndrome)
Wasn't this enough to spark your wildest curiosity? Then you're just a bunch of piciu! What these geniuses have done is exactly what they've said: a cleverly mixed sound blending King Crimson, Dillinger Escape Plan, Tool, Radiohead, Rage Against The Machine, etc., etc. There's something for everyone, but - as you surely suspected - it's not the usual boiling pot full of good things that, when put together, only make a big mess. There's more to say.
From how I’ve put it, they might seem like a derivative group, just with very fitting influences. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Postman Syndrome is suffused with a unique and coherent personality - I wouldn't know how else to define it - that travels on ever-changing and alternating emotional currents, also traveling between styles and genres, "touched" with the aforementioned personality, and in so doing surprisingly enriched and enhanced.
The instrumentation is quite extensive, three voices - one "clean" and two halfway between screamo and growl in full death metal style - along with three guitars and a highly respectable drummer. Note also the merit on the production, precise volumes and massive, granitic guitars, but also dreamy and lightweight, as needed. I would say I've gone on a bit too long for an album that is simply a masterpiece and needs to be listened to.
So, listen to it, bunch of piciu.

One of the best albums released in the last 7 years, it has remained largely unknown to both the public and critics.
Terraforming is the paradigm of what it means to be 'progressive' in the new millennium.
