The Profile

The Orb is a British ambient house group formed in London in 1988 by Alex Paterson, initially with Jimmy Cauty, later joined by Kris Weston. Pioneers of sample-rich chill-out and dub-infused electronics, they broke through with The Orb’s Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld and U.F.Orb. Their single Blue Room and the classic Little Fluffy Clouds cemented their influence on 1990s electronic music.
