Johnny is back.
After the sleep, the dream, the syncope, and the ecstasy, the Frisco companions change their clothes and names, pull out their vampire teeth, their Halloween costumes, and head off with the pedal to the metal towards a party full of terror masks, fake blood, and amphetamines.
Having shaken off the sleeping pills, we then give ourselves an electric shock just to resurrect Frankenstein cramps-wise with "Block of Ice". Then we descend into Mr. Dwyer's basement of terror, and with "Grease2", we witness Coachwhips on a free outing, lumberjack-style drumming, and a dirty guitar that winks and pinches the butts of the girls at the dance.
Then, in rapid succession, a ride that flaunts the rock-freakout riffs of "Ghost in the Trees", the turbo intercooler carousels of "Graveyard Drug Party", "Adult Acid" torments Brian Wilson until it convinces him to make the soundtrack for a "sick sci-fi", then with "The Coconut" it returns to make a ruckus and runs for the anthem, "Koka Kola Jingle" then is the "difficult" track, the one where the "guys" pretend to be Love full of scratches and spoon down three minutes of slowed-down acid scales with all the hullabaloo of analog drills blowing a cold wind on an arpeggio bordering on schizophrenia.
The rest, however, it pains me to admit, is little more than the gymnastics of a slightly fattened great athlete.
Yes, because our Californian lad this time, even with a high-grade product, does not make us fall in love.
The impression is that in injecting the magic serum this time, he has hit the pop vein and from the shamanic fear-tremor of the early days, he's turned into a silly monster with an obsession with rock 'n' roll.
This is the state of the art: perhaps good for the inexhaustible kids with shiny dancing shoes, but for those who loved him from the days of the poisonous snakes, this is the furthest shot from the bull's-eye.

The Oh Sees' album that even your sister could dance to. For us hardcore purists, just a nice party where you get drunk, have fun, but in the end, don't find the chicks.
Try again, Johnny.
