The Normal is the solo project of Daniel Miller, founder of Mute Records, best known for the 1978 single "Warm Leatherette" / "T.V.O.D.".

Daniel Miller recorded the original two-track single using a Korg synthesizer and a makeshift four-track setup and released it under the name The Normal in 1978 on the fledgling Mute imprint. The single is widely cited as influential in early electronic and synth-pop circles; the lyrics of the two tracks engage themes of man-machine relations and draw on J.G. Ballard imagery (as noted in contemporary commentary).
