Formed in 1966. Their 1970 album Uncle Charlie and His Dog Teddy includes the band's well-known version of "Mr. Bojangles". The 1972 triple album Will the Circle Be Unbroken featured collaborations with traditional country and bluegrass musicians such as Doc Watson and Earl Scruggs. The band has also recorded under the name The Dirt Band.
