THE REVIEW

Let's start with a simple and clear fact: when it comes to metalcore nowadays, people tend to turn their noses up by default. And quite often with good reason, as fundamentally we're talking about a genre that hasn't been able to renew itself over the years, reaching its most extreme point with deathcore or heading towards more "showy" shores with the advent of electronics. I believe the case of The Morning Is For Sleeping can be placed halfway; in this new work titled "In Truth And Lies," they undoubtedly prove themselves full of good ideas and the necessary grit to successfully complete their work. However, if you're coming from that early New Millennium period like myself, where the metalcore trend was on everyone's lips, well, the whole thing has a strong sense of being "already heard." To avoid misunderstandings, better to reiterate: the group has produced an excellent work, and if you're a fan of these types of sounds, there are plenty of interesting elements within it. Firstly, the abundant - yet well-thought-out - use of synth and keyboards, capable of giving even more groove to the tracks. As often happens when talking about metalcore, even The Morning Is For Sleeping couldn't shake off those clichés hated by everyone (primarily breakdowns), while in terms of guitar work, one must admit that they're quite adept, moving well between melodic death and more modern sounds leaning towards post-hardcore. The usual growl/melodic vocal duality is not a downside at all, bringing out especially two tracks: the single "Hollywood" and "King Of Nothing," perhaps the best of the bunch. Electronics, metalcore, rock-oriented parts, and a highlighted melodic voice: there's perhaps too much on the plate, and now, dear The Morning Is For Sleeping, comes the hard part... Bringing it all together with your next work, aiming for an artistically personal proposal.
