THE REVIEW

Don't ask me where and how I discovered this Swedish group, because thanks to some very respectable musicologists I know, I managed to explore the murkiest corners of the underground. The internet offers us very little information about Mobile Mob Freakshow and, unfortunately, I couldn't find information about them even by flipping through old industry magazines.

A bunch of Swedes, as mentioned earlier, very angry but with a great desire to have fun and enjoy big laughs using a horrific and satanic imagery that, from Black Sabbath to Ghost, has indelibly marked the history of rock.

Therefore, forget about Norwegian black metal, forget about Deicide, and erase from your mind that fake "handsome and damned" aura that the now bloated Mr. Brian Hugh Warner is still trying to flaunt.

Think, instead, of bands that truly played with extreme themes and topics while always keeping a smile on their faces.

And it's precisely the attitude and sound of Misfits, Samhain, Motorhead, and Venom that violently emerges from the fourteen tracks present on this album. All quite homogeneous and all geared towards that raw and ignorant heavy-punk sound of the early '80s. In truth, I also heard some echoes of more recent bands like Turbonegro, but maybe those are just impressions.

The best moments, for the record, answer to the names "Where Angel Fear To Tread", "She Loves Evil Dead", and the long "Voodoo Maniac Zombie Girls." But the album should be appreciated as a whole.

A band that adds nothing new, heaven forbid, but has managed to recreate that sound so dear to those who, not my case, shook their heads to the notes of the aforementioned sacred monsters thirty-six years ago.
