Formed 1963 in Riverside, California; relocated to London in 1966 after being noticed by DJ John Ravenscroft (later known as John Peel). Tony Hill joined the lineup (later associated with High Tide). Recorded tracks for Fontana Records; producer on 1966 sessions mentioned as Dick Leathy. Guitarist George Phelps was called back to the army; vocalist Rick Brown later suffered depression and pursued mysticism and gemstones (as noted in reviews).

Two DeBaser reviews praise The Misunderstood as a seminal 1960s garage/psychedelic act, documenting their Riverside origins, move to London in 1966, and a brief but influential recording period. The compilation Before The Dream Faded is highlighted as essential for collectors.

For:Fans and collectors of 1960s garage and psychedelic rock, listeners of early British psych/mod scenes, record collectors searching for lost gems.
