LA RECENSIONE

Question: How to review an album by the Meters? The answer is equally challenging... Reflecting on the fact that many trust the equation METERS=FUNK, judging an album like "Look-Ka Py Py" is a task, if not impossible, quite difficult. "Look-Ka Py Py" is indeed a celebration of that hardcore-funk that only the Neville brothers & co. knew how to create, immediate and complex at the same time, and in the 12 tracks of the album, it gifts us, one after the other, masterpieces like "Rigor Mortis," "Pungee," the legendary "Funky Miracle," "Little Old Money Maker," and "Dry Spell," although one could easily cite the entire album.

In short, "Look-Ka Py Py" is a legendary album, a milestone of funk and black music, and not having it is truly a crime: seek it out and listen to it, it would really be a shame to ignore a group, like the Meters, that has indelibly marked the history of music.
