The Knife are a Swedish electronic duo formed in Stockholm in 1999 by siblings Karin Dreijer and Olof Dreijer. Known for masked visuals, vocal processing, and a fierce DIY streak via their label Rabid Records, they released acclaimed albums including Silent Shout and Shaking The Habitual, and the Darwin-inspired collaboration Tomorrow, in a Year.

Members: Karin Dreijer and Olof Dreijer. Formed in Stockholm (1999). Known for masked imagery, cryptic lyrics, and video/visual work; they release music via their own label Rabid Records. Notable albums include The Knife (2001), Deep Cuts (2003), Silent Shout (2006), and Shaking The Habitual (2013); they also created the opera-related project Tomorrow, in a Year (with Mt. Sims and Planningtorock). Karin also records solo as Fever Ray. The duo disbanded in 2014.

Reviews highlight The Knife’s evolution from the bright, mercurial pop of Deep Cuts to the shadowy precision of Silent Shout and the fierce, sprawling experimentation of Shaking The Habitual. Tomorrow, in a Year pushes into opera and avant-garde terrain. Critics note masked personas, cryptic lyrics, and heavy vocal processing. Overall sentiment skews positive, praising ambition and distinctiveness while acknowledging difficulty.
