Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince return with this "Blood Pressure": another stunning album, made of creative and captivating garage rock, but not only. After their third album, "Midnight Boom", I didn't think these two musicians would be able to take their ability to be brazenly direct and catchy to the next level, even higher.

Well, what can I say, it was definitely worth waiting 3 years! The opening track, "Future Starts Slow" starts strong, rocks hard, with a killer hook that grabs you and you can't help but sing along: "No longing for the moonlight, no longing for the sun, no longer will I curse the bad I've done..."
And just like their previous album, there's not a single song inviting me to hit the SKIP button. It's quite a varied album, with traditional pure rock canons, like in "The Last Goodbye", a track that brings out the duo's sensitive side, an excellent ballad. "Baby Says" sounds like a cross between a '60s girlband song and an '80s new wave track. "Heart is a Beating Drum" and "Nail in My Coffin" are two other "standout tracks" clean as a whistle. Then we move on to pure fun with "You Don't Own the Road" dirty, sweaty, and distorted guitars to the limit. And then the last track, "Pots and Pans": I'm not entirely sure if this is the typical track that "breaks" just so as not to bore the listener or if it's a sought-after and heartfelt lovesong...all I know is that the song is pure extravagant magic.

So, let's clear something up: I've heard all sorts of things about this duo, some saying they're White Stripes clones and therefore engineered, etc. etc. etc...well, honestly, I couldn't care less, it's a great piece of work so, nothing to complain about, highly recommended for those who love the genre. 4/5
