Dear ones,
today I will dedicate some of my time to you, to explain and present a song that, of course, is not very clear to everyone.
It's "Human", a single that became a Hit (for reasons far from obvious) by the Killers. "I spent a lot of time and reflection writing this song," declares Brandon (that is, the leader of the group... for those who don't know), "I hate that no one takes it seriously and even accuse it of being devoid of any sense."
Poor man; it's understandable, darn. It's not even clear to me why there is so much lack of clarity.
My people, have you ever heard of puppets? Puppets that dance as they are ordered to? What else could "Cut the cord, are we human or are we dancer?" mean?
There's no need to be a genius to understand something like this; you just need to look around, open your eyes, and understand what's happening on the planet we live on. Brandon, of course, realized it and decided to communicate it to us through songs, which unfortunately no one understands.
Tell me, what could "sometimes I get nervous when I see an open door; close your eyes, clear your heart..." mean? Try to think about it for a moment... let me help you: Open door, a sign of opportunity, a new beginning. But it makes him nervous because he doesn't know what's hiding behind it, yet he comforts himself by closing his eyes and opening his heart, accepting and indeed seizing the new beginning. Doesn't it seem connected? I won't go into explaining what's behind it now. But I'm sure some of you, presumed readers, will understand what I'm talking about.
What else could "and I'm on my knees, looking for the answer..." mean? Come on, you can't say this song doesn't make any sense. It's not just commercial crap. Brandon knows, Brandon conveys his fears and hopes through songs, clear only to those who really know how to listen to them and are aware of what's happening.
In fact, the entire Album "Day & Age" is full of meanings, alas, hidden to practically everyone. "Spaceman"... simple as a song, huh? You listen to it and think "God, what song is this? What the heck does all this mean? Bah, nothing. They are a simple little band, they make music just to entertain." Did I hit the nail at least a little? Yes, I'm sure. But I have a bad piece of news for you: "Spaceman" is far from a simple little song. Just like "Human". Not to mention "Neon Tiger"... I would love to tell you much more, I would love to write you all the details... but I know what your reaction would be: "Bah, crazy!"
Therefore, I hope at least to some of you, it's clear what I'm talking about. And I hope at least someone will share this thought about The Killers with me because they are truly a special band, not simple and commercial as you all think. Try to reflect, to connect reality with their songs, and many things will become clear. Don't be superficial, for those who listen to the Killers: feel them... don't just listen to them. Trust me, they communicate much more to us than you believe.
If only you knew, my dear ones, if only you knew.
Tracklist and Lyrics
01 Human (04:09)
I did my best to notice
When the call came down the line
Up to the platform of surrender
I was brought but I was kind
And sometimes I get nervous
When I see an open door
Close your eyes
Clear your heart...
Cut the cord
Are we human?
Or are we dancer?
My sign is vital
My hands are cold
And I'm on my knees
Looking for the answer
Are we human?
Or are we dancer?
Pay my respects to grace and virtue
Send my condolences to good
Give my regards to soul and romance,
They always did the best they could
And so long to devotion
You taught me everything I know
Wave goodbye
Wish me well..
You've got to let me go
Are we human?
Or are we dancer?
My sign is vital
My hands are cold
And I'm on my knees
Looking for the answer
Are we human?
Or are we dancer?
Will your system be alright
When you dream of home tonight?
There is no message we're receiving
Let me know is your heart still beating
Are we human?
Or are we dancer?
My sign is vital
My hands are cold
And I'm on my knees
Looking for the answer
You've got to let me know
Are we human?
Or are we dancer?
My sign is vital
My hands are cold
And I'm on my knees
Looking for the answer
Are we human
Or are we dancer?
Are we human?
Or are we dancer?
Are we human
Or are we dancer?
02 A Crippling Blow (03:37)
Here in my house
Time is sweet
I hear the children playing in the street
Out with the hot winds blowing in the breeze
Ah-ah-ah
I don't need time, I don't need time
No, I can get by myself
I don't need time, I don't know why
The summer wind did not tell
I scrambled online and I know that I
Will never be calm and well
But I can get by in the meantime
By myself
Woo!
He's a real winner
Probable to say
Sleeping in, a lazy afternoon
A danger to the doubters, they assume
I don't need time, I don't need time
No, I can get by myself
I don't need time, I don't know why
The summer wind did not tell
I scrambled online and I know that I
Will never be calm and well
But I can get by in the meantime
By myself
Deal me a crippling blow
Steal me from under my clothes
I don't need time, I don't need time
No, I can get by myself
I don't need time, I don't know why
The summer wind did not tell
I scrambled online and I know that I
Will never be calm and well
But I can get by in the meantime
By myself
Lord I can get by in the meantime by myself
Well, I can get by in the meantime by myself
