"Defend Pig Squeals". This is the battle motto of Juliet Massacre, a band that, for some arcane reason, found itself in the position of self-producing an extraordinary album like "Human Abuse". A band that has always kept things straightforward, with few words, but has consistently demonstrated great performances, as evidenced by the debut "Pray For An Afterlife" and now the brand new album. An album boasting songwriting even richer in cutting-edge technical solutions and an inspiration never before achieved. But who are Juliet Massacre? A band that managed to blend different stylistic currents: technical death metal, slam death, and core variants capable of giving their own "breath" to decidedly off-limits tracks. "Human Abuse" is an album strongly desired by the six musicians, and this is evident from the very first notes: the meticulous attention to every single aspect of the tracks, the continuous sensation of facing a band free to express themselves one hundred percent without hesitation, and a perfectly calibrated DIY production highlighting every single instrument are elements that make this work simply perfect. We are talking about a band that is part of the sub-niche of the niche of metal listeners; this is clear to everyone, dealing with blast beats, frenzied double bass, and not one but two "singers" who perfectly play the role of Cicerone in what is a journey through the Inferno not everyone can withstand such a blow. And it is precisely the impact that makes this album something special: each track is pushed to the limit to the point of being easily presented live, and this is undoubtedly a positive factor these days. We are talking about a group that, for once, took the recording studio as the perfect proving ground to then deliver the best live, a factor not always found in alternative and non-alternative albums. To support the tracklist, there are three guests: Radim from Spasm in "Slam Again the Injustice", Julien Truchan from Benighted in "The Tragedy of the Guns", and Alessandro Falà from Sawthis in "Choking the Last Breath", along with a splendid artwork. A great album indeed, highly recommended for fans of Black Dahlia Murder, Despised Icon, and Vulvectomy.
