I still remember that distant evening of November 11, 2006. A biting cold, a Saturday night like any other spent with friends at the nearest bar where we could spend the evening. At a certain point, outside the venue where we had settled to smoke a cigarette, two cute girls with friendly looks approached us, informing us that their friends, the "The Jar," would be playing that evening at the venue. Along with the proposal to watch the show together, they asked if we would like to have their CD. We accepted this second request since we couldn't stay to watch the performance. I bought that album out of curiosity, as the underground rock scene has always intrigued me a lot.
A good CD all in all. A good fusion of Rock, Funky, and Blues, simple and danceable music, traversed by sounds that recall a summer evening between disco and friends, funky guitars, and simple rhythms, at times the tracks slip into more decisive and gritty parts. Jazz sounds combined with good, laid-back rock. "Song Of A Lost Soul" and "Steamy Blues" present the band's funky rock features, with a gritty and truly distinctive voice. The rhythm moves to indie rock with "Coffe And Cigarettes", "Lost In The Disco" "Hyper Ego", ending with the long and beautiful "Absent Presence", well-structured and built. In conclusion, indeed a beautiful album, characterized by heavy guitars but with a touch of funky jazz, and truly enviable solos for a very interesting band.
Regards.
