The Helio Sequence are a two-man army. In 2008, they left us with one of the best indie-rock (well... everything is indie these days) albums of the year in their genre, this "Keep Your Eyes Ahead".
The band is composed of Brandon Summers on guitar and vocals and Ben Weikel on keyboards and drums. The latter is a former member of Modest House. They are already on their fifth work, which began back in 1999 with an EP and then in 2000 with the actual debut of "Corn Flex". If you have the patience to listen to a couple of tracks from this latest work, you will take them all IN BLOCK. On "YouTube," there are the two 45 singles extracted from this latest work, namely the title track and "Broken Afternoon", take a look. The title track is a great rock song, but the one that amazed and impressed me is "Broken Afternoon", a beautiful acoustic track in the style of Dylan; Dylan would sign it in a heartbeat today. The album is entirely beautiful, let it play a couple of times before expressing the final judgment, here it's not hard work at all, actually....
A few final words on the reviews (or ratings). I struggle a lot to give ratings in this 2009. A rating requires a term of comparison, and what should it be? "Dark Side of the Moon"? It doesn't make much sense. I propose to draw up rankings and reviews year by year. In 2008 here, we're at 4.5/5. Enjoy the listening. Alex
