THE REVIEW

Dizzy Up the Girl represents the pinnacle of the Goo Goo Dolls' musical journey, combined (let's admit it) with the desire to become known to the general public.
Anyway, the sticky doll trio has produced true gems of songs. Aside from the very famous "Iris" and the equally well-known "Slide," it's the album itself that is special.

The first time I listened to it, it made me dream, and perhaps that is its most salient characteristic. It makes you dream. The songs drag you in, they move you, they're special nonetheless, and you can feel that there's a beating heart in each one.
Musically, hard and gritty songs alternate with romantic ones. Yet even the edgier songs always maintain a melodic trace. A classic American rock with ample atmosphere and a style that feels both familiar and original.

I gave the album four points because a couple of songs are somewhat rushed, and certain tracks are a bit too long.

For those who might not know, the Goo Goo Dolls are quite well-known in America and have been playing since the mid-eighties. They started as a Punk group, evolved into Melodic Hard Rock, and then into a very beautiful Rock-Pop.
Nonetheless, this album is their best.

Although a few tracks feel rushed or too long, it stands as their best work and a classic American rock-pop record.
