THE REVIEW

A group that between 1994 and 1998 managed to release two electronic music albums that went down in history as masterpieces beyond any generalization ("Lifeforms" and "Dead Cities"), comes out with a progressive rock album after 5 years of absence.

Leaving behind the majestic atmospheres of "My Kingdom" and "Cascade", flushing away the acidic rhythms of "We Have Explosive" and "Papua New Guinea", what remains?
Unfortunately, very little, for the first time in their career Cobain and Dougans make a misstep; not, as one might think, due to a lack of ability to stylistically render a genre extremely different from their other works, the shortcoming is rather in the feeling that "The Isness" (fails to) establish with the listener.
There are some beautiful tracks, of course, just listen to "Mello Hippo Disco Show" to realize it, the fact is that from the authors of "Lifeforms" one would expect a glance to the future and not a return to the past.

If you're really looking for the new work of the Future Sound of London, buy the single "Mello Hippo Disco Show", it definitely deserves more.
