Many times, lovers of good rock music and beyond will have asked themselves what the best rock album ever recorded on the face of the earth is. I have asked myself that many times too... It was exactly in the summer of 1991 that I had the mathematical certainty that the album was "Nobody Said It Was Easy" by The Four Horsemen...

Let's go back to 1987, Hollywood, California, where Frank C. Starr (vocals, from Alien), Haggis (guitar, former bassist of The Cult and Zodiac Mindwarp), Dave Lizmi (guitar), Ben Pape (bass), and Ken Montgomery, known as Dimwit (drums), are the gang of misfits coming together to soon give birth to the most beautiful and exhilarating album on the hard rock scene... before that, in 1989, as a preview, comes out the equally badass self-titled first EP, which a few (but discerning) individuals even consider superior to the debut full-length in question. But let's get back to "Nobody Said It Was Easy"... we're looking at a record that better than any other was able to deliver a hard rock with a distinctly 70s style better than the bands of that era. I mentioned refined hard rock, southern, street'n'sleazy, which beats at their own game the very bands that were their greatest influences, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Cult (Electric period)... and I'm not swearing, download this album (also because it won't be easy to get an original copy) and let me know. Sure, you might think "nothing new," but listen to how they do it, and then tell me if they don't do it more than just well... badass riffs, lyrics full of sex, alcohol, and drugs, a rock-solid rhythm section, incendiary guitar solos, a warm and sensual voice in some tracks and high and anguished in others... this album will make you move your ass like a crazy and sick mix between Angus Young and Mick Jagger!... these songs will catapult you to dusty Californian towns aboard a Harley, in the worst bars but not to drink that crap called Pampero, but damn bourbon and beer while enjoying a good game of pool with a blonde, hot piece of ass big-breasted slut! ... p**ca di quella t***a believe me!!!...

Unfortunately, the fate of this band was not as thrilling as their music. Shortly after this album, the band members began fighting among themselves, then they reunited in 1994 to record a new album, but drummer Dimwit would die of an overdose. He was replaced by Chuck Biscuits from Danzig, the recording moved forward, but just before the mastering in November 1995, a damn drunk driver would hit Frank C. Starr who was speeding freely on his motorcycle. With severe head trauma, he would fall into a coma... the rest of the band went on tour to promote "Getting Pretty Good At Barely Getting By" with Ron Young from Little Caesar on vocals, but it was short-lived, as were the hopes for Frank, who would pass away on June 18, 1999, at the age of 41. R.I.P. Frank & Ken

Ps don't bust my balls: I know very well that this review is poorly written... I'm not a reviewer, and I just wanted to make sure this beautiful record gets some consideration. Marsellus aka Viking
