THE REVIEW

Wayne Coyne's mind is a constantly evolving universe, in continuous expansion, in a frantic search for new horizons. The destination of his wandering is probably completely unknown to him.

"24 Hour Song Skull" is a monster, 24 hours, the delirious fruit of his obsessions. Few have ventured to the edge of the event horizon of that terrifying black hole. Dave Fridmann thought to enclose its devastated essence in a 50-minute time cage, letting us glimpse, just imagine, the wonders and horrors of a dimension where only a few minds can wander without getting burned.

"7 Skies H3" is Wayne Coyne's grin reflected in a wicked mirror, shattered and launched into sidereal space.

"7 Skies H3 (Can't Shut Off My Head)" is the last known port. The atmosphere is dreamy, narcotic but the unease is in the air. A unhealthy sense of danger is palpable.

The jump into the void.

We are launched into a dark dimension, the cosmic cold assails us, we are free yet at the same time trapped in a claustrophobic cube. Shaken by metallic waves, synthetic shards brush past us, the images are distorted, alien beats arrive from worlds explored by German travelers who reached the gates of the cosmos.

We pass through the black gate of "Metamorphosis," floating in a starless space, illuminated only by few synths, echoes of guitars, a lullaby cradles us into a sweet artificial torpor.

An unexpected scream.

"Riot in My Brain". The never-heard scream of Cthulhu shakes us and throws us towards friendly shores.

"Can't Let it Go", finally familiar landscapes, the return. Perhaps.

The Flaming Lips continue to surf on the waves of our minds and this can only be good news.
