Choruses that smell like spring in the debut CD of the English band The Feeling. They are just little songs, it's true, but the style is very, very enjoyable.
The Feeling are like a BigBubble: for the first 10 chews, they're fantastic, juicy, sweet; after a while, however, this chewing gum loses its flavor, starting to send gastric juices to the bile that irritate the liver. That should be your behavior towards this group: dance, clap your hands yeah yeah, fool around on these notes; but then, please, throw this CD out the window: the risk that in a few years these songs will be found next to those of Aqua or Cartoons is high.
The problem today is this: bands flirt with the charts not by acting silly anymore, wearing wigs or fake breasts; today, they immerse themselves in a rock attitude, pick up a slightly busted bass and "become the band", to have attitude both on the radio (more radio-friendly than this is not possible...) and in videos, with vintage and cool jackets and cuts. In 'I Want You Now' they appear like Queen (the trashiest you can imagine);'Never Be Lonely' works well on the iPod of ladies who go jogging on Friday evenings; 'Fill My Little World' is a nice single that couldn't be more cheeky; 'Kettle's On' is bass-heavy, darker, meaner style; 'Sewn' is the strongest track on the CD, with Coldplay popping out of the window from which you had thrown the CD and warning us, "Are you sure you haven't pulled out 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head'???". Don't worry Chris Martin, that CD is still safely kept in the CD rack. And then there's 'Anyone', 'Rosé', and 'Love It When You Call' among the most successful episodes.
A very nice CD. Listen to it, let your girlfriend listen to it, keep 'Sewn' permanently on your iPod (or any damn MP3 player, even from Zony), and then throw it in the trash. You had it burned anyway, right?
