THE REVIEW

Like When It Rains Outside...

Start of review.

"Golevka" is a cruel album. It offers no escape; after the first two minutes, you immediately understand what it's about, and then you'll have to make a choice. You might dismiss it, branding it instantly as the usual post-rock blow that hits hard like a beast, or you might surrender to it, allowing enough time for the languid melodies and gradual progressions to be absorbed, guiding you to observe everything from behind the glass of a large window on a gray and stormy day, and there you are, isolated and nailed down, contemplating the outburst of a superior force. There will be scratches on the heart and punches to the soul. A strong call to that pleasing sadness, the kind at the end of summer, the one only high-altitude nature can give you. This might all be due to what the Mogwai left in the air, but as devastating as it may be, it will also be the trigger of relief, a sadness with a smile.

The Evpatoria Report is a group of Swiss youngsters equally distributed among guitar, guitar, bass, drums, violin, and/or keyboard. They take their name from the Ukrainian city of Evpatoria in Crimea, where the RT-70(P-2500) antenna is installed with the task of sending messages into space to describe human life.
