LA RECENSIONE

No, we're not there yet. I'm sorry to begin with this preamble regarding the new album by The End, but the noticeable shift made in this latest album is superficial, to use an understatement.

It's not at all because it's obvious that the melodic turn is evident, rather for the predictability of the proposition that seems intended to attract as many listeners as possible. Dangerous, the opening track, and the subsequent The never Aftermath, have no progressive elements, as they want us to believe; they are a shameless pantomime, useless digressions filling moments poor in every direction, both in the lyrics and the song structure. Animal, at least in the introduction, is the simplified and even somewhat ridiculous reprise of what the band was up to the previous album "Within Dividia". And from here onwards comes the most predictable part of the album: the singer Wolff's voice is not suited for melodic, too busy giving itself a Cedric Bixler-like tone, everything reeks of Mars Volta and TOOL-like gusts even in the sound mood, all in a modern metal key... as it seems fashionable to say in the best magazines. This and more is evident, arrived at a useless "A fell Wind" that should continue in the wake of those charismatic acoustic mini-suites of the previous full-length, but which is nothing more than a feeble filler.

The turn is drastic, courageous, if well-structured it would have made people shout about the umpteenth "next big thing"... it turned out to be another missed opportunity.

Summary by Bot

The End's album 'Elementary' attempts a melodic shift but fails to deliver genuine progressiveness. The songs feel predictable and superficial, with uninspired lyrics and structure. Vocals by Wolff lack suitability for the melodic style, echoing other bands without originality. Overall, the album is considered a missed opportunity despite its courageous direction.
