We were very close to Christmas, the holidays would start soon... The situation was exactly the same as every other year, you look forward to the day of the celebration... Then you realize it’s crap. ...Let's get back to us, it was a Sunday in December, the next week the moment would come. I was still tangled up in my blanket and kept torturing my pillow, then suddenly I felt my phone vibrating... I grabbed it and answered:

"Hi... why did you call me, don't you see it’s barely 10?"

"Hi mate! This afternoon, at three... Come take a trip to Turin with the whole gang?"

"Turin? You must be crazy! We are close to Christmas, do you realize how many people will be there? Why not Cuneo, it may be smaller, but it's more livable!"

"Oh come on! Come! We’ll have fun!"

"Listen... But will Fra be there too? At least I will have a reason to come..."

My friend, resigned: "Okay, I’ll tell her too... But don't sneak off like you did last time, huh?..."

"Okay... And thanks mate..."

And so, after a very boring bus trip, here we are in the crappiest city in the world. Streets crowded with elderly ladies and you feel like bashing them, me holding hands with the brunette and two balloons are forming where my decency should be... you try not to show it, but you are shattered...

What brings back my attention is a record store and the girl drags me inside... To myself, I think: "You shouldn’t have done that", I'm indeed comparable to a bride undecided between two dresses in record stores... I immediately search for the "Doors" section and find a maroon case labeled "The Doors, live at the Matrix in Los Angeles 1967", nothing else matters now, the brunette finds nothing interesting and pulls me into a corner to make out... "Who the hell feels like it?!... Stupid horny duckling!", I think and after the Odyssey of the return journey, I can finally enjoy the new record in peace.

It's a bootleg and I don't think it's the full live, as there are only eight tracks. A beautiful "Back Door Man" bursts out with all its power from the speakers, the recording is just about decent, yet Jim's grit shines through, it was the early years of their career, and his voice was still completely intact. Truly moving. A downside is the audience, which is almost imperceptible. "Light my Fire" lacks the famous riff, but it is still thrilling, the instrumental sections are not very highlighted, yet Manzarek’s and Krieger’s solos are equally frightening. Unfortunately, the drums are often overshadowed. During the 11 minutes of "When the Music is Over" I experience every kind of emotion, Morrison penetrates into the brain and a part of him seems to continue to live in the listener. Stunning "Alabama Song" and "Break on Through". The audience seems to be composed of two people, well... let’s continue with "Fever", at the end of which a part of "Light my Fire" is picked up again. The two concluding songs are the most intense moment, in "People are Strange" the poor recording increases the pathos, with the singer's voice prominently ahead. "The End" has a very high Morrisonian pathos and closes the record well.

I haven’t found any information about the product, some sites say it was recorded in San Francisco, the cover says Los Angeles, who knows...

Despite everything, it’s a nice bootleg and evokes great emotions also thanks to its poor quality...

Well... That trip to Turin wasn’t so bad after all... I can say I found a trace of light in the middle of a dark tunnel... That light was indeed the Doors...
