The Profile

The Distillers are an American punk rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1998 by Australian-born singer-guitarist Brody Dalle. They released three studio albums—the self-titled debut (2000), Sing Sing Death House (2002), and Coral Fang (2003)—before disbanding in 2006. The band regrouped in 2018.

Fronted by Brody Dalle; early releases on Hellcat Records, later a major-label move (Warner). Coral Fang-era lineup included Brody Dalle, Andy Granelli, Ryan Sinn, and Tony Bradley. Coral Fang production credited to Gil Norton. Reunion activity began in 2018.

Four reviews size up The Distillers’ punchy punk: some hail Coral Fang’s songwriting and Brody Dalle’s voice, others call the band a commercialized punk product. References fly from Rancid to Sonic Youth, Hole, Nirvana, and PJ Harvey. Sing Sing Death House is framed as raw, fast, and lyrically stark; Coral Fang as broader in sound yet still abrasive. Key tracks repeatedly cited: Drain the Blood, Dismantle Me, Die on a Rope, Hall of Mirrors, The Hunger.
