The Di Maggio Connection - Rowdy

Where do we start? From the incredible resume of this Italian band, alas little known in Italy, yet praised in the States, so much so that it had the honor of being inducted (with its guitarist, Marco Di Maggio) into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, playing on prestigious stages like the Montreux Jazz Festival, or having performed with people like DJ Fontana (Elvis Presley's drummer), Billy Swan (composer for Elvis), Slim Jim Phantom (drummer of the Stray Cats)? Or from the statement of Terry Williams, former drummer of Dire Straits (another artist with whom the band had the honor to play) who simply said, “I have played with the greatest, Mark Knopfler, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Albert Lee… I can say that Marco Di Maggio is one of them”? Or yet, from the incredible cover of “Smoke On The Water” by Deep Purple, revised and corrected with psychobilly in mind? Maybe you’ve already understood… The album, and the band presented here, are a time bomb ready to explode in your face from the first listen. And, with collaborations, the 13 albums already recorded (by Di Maggio, third for this combo), and the concerts around the world aside, The Di Maggio Connection bless us with an album full of energy. Marco Di Maggio then deserves a separate focus… What about the fits of fury he delivers with his electric guitar? What about the furious and unpredictable solos (above all, the one in the Deep Purple cover, where I recall the boy with the banjo in “Deliverance”, shredding arpeggios and notes at lightning speed)? Nothing… There are no words to describe this album… Take a note, go to their Spotify profile and listen to these 11 beautiful songs.
