It seems strange to me, but in fact, no one has yet written about The Cure's European Tour. People who love them are obsessed! I am one of them. The presentation of the new (or new, there should be two) album was expected.
So, I went to Riga in Latvia (a beautiful, charming, and affordable city) for the first date on October 6th.
A wonderful start with "a new song": Alone and followed by Pictures of You and no other new songs. "Only" the "usual" wonderful songs. We wondered why, feeling a bit disappointed; back in Italy, we continued to follow the tour every moment on YouTube and on the many, many fan pages both on Instagram and Facebook, which share even recordings of the entire concerts every day. The setlists are always published in real-time by https://www.setlist.fm
Following the first new song (Alone indeed), three more have followed so far: I Can Never Say Goodbye, Endsong, And Nothing Is Forever. Each has a story of course, always a long instrumental beginning, and the wonderful Robert Smith tells them to us with his funny and charming manner together and with his unique voice, whether he is speaking or singing.
Since the obsession for The Cure is a beautiful one, it needs to be nurtured, and for this reason, I will also be on November 1st in Florence and on the 4th in Milan (I've never seen just one Cure concert, come to think of it) and then... who knows.
