For the first time, I am about to write a negative review, but I allow myself to do so precisely because I have great respect for one of my greatest bands of all time. I am quite happy to vent the anger they have caused me with certain rubbish.
I do it because it's a thorn in my heart that unfortunately leaves a visible scar, namely this “album,” a word that's too big; a more appropriate definition would be better suited, which I would commonly call, “clandestine abortion”. It leads me to express and feel a total bitter disappointment for a band of such greatness and caliber that over the years has let itself go, transforming until it hit rock bottom in an inconceivable low.
You may wonder why I have 'Mixed Up', simply because it was given to me as a gift. I don’t throw it away because there is always respect for someone else's work, regardless of personal considerations. In my opinion, it should be crossed off, archived, … practically disregarded, because it's a sort of … . . , and here I restrain myself and stay quiet because it's better that way! I could become vulgar, and that's not like me. I've often asked myself why, (even though it commonly happens in life for various situations) why people who are among the stars fall to the barn, distorting their personality, image, and admiration. The answer is always the same, that is ….. it's life, it's destiny. Going back to the “abortion,” on listening to the first track you say … well, I don't like it, let's move on to the second, at the second you say … let's move on to the third, and by the third, you immediately eject the CD from the stereo out of a rush of shame.
Being a good lover of the Cure, I will always have respect and eternal gratitude for all the infinite, incomparable creations of sublime greatness such as “A Forest” - “Play for Today” - “Faith” - “Other Voices” - “The Hanging Garden” - “A Night Like This” - “Just One Kiss” - “La Ment” - “Trust” and I could go on endlessly, but let’s just leave it—these are comparisons that after “Wish” can no longer be made, as they are quite inappropriate, so stop! The chapter is closed bitterly, without any chance of return or remission of the sins committed, certainly human but unforgivable, and without the possibility of a sort of future resurrection! Album Rating: unclassifiable, therefore …failed!.
