Album of the month!
In fact, it's not too far-fetched to seriously consider it album of the year!
I rushed to the store right after watching the launch video for the single “Blind Pilots” (where a guy gets drunk at his bachelor party with friends, transforms, no less, into Satan, complete with goat legs, and goes around causing chaos in London).
Songs that start slow, with just some hand claps in time, a piano in the background, and then suddenly explode, when you least expect it, transforming into a rock that only a few bands currently know how to do so well (in fact, I can only think of one, but I won't say which).
I don't know what type of rock it is: it's indefinable, a mix between sonic experimentation, sweet atmospheres, echoes, and deep sounds, but also very heavy guitars (sometimes on the verge of nu-metal) and an angry singing that almost always ends up sliding into softer tones.
Guitars of all kinds, and then again synths, keyboards, trumpets, percussion, for a type of rock that draws from all sources, from grunge to electronic... quite a long digestion time, in short!
On the NME review it says “We wouldn't have been surprised if there had also been a chicken solo on the album. Forget about letting the flames in: this is already hell!”.
No need to waste more words, they would just ruin the surprise for you. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
