A decidedly tasty appetizer offered by the Turin-based band Compromise, which from the name I would have thought leaned towards old-school hardcore, but instead is involved with alternative rock. However, be careful not to confuse the term “alternative rock” with what is popular today because you would easily be mistaken.

The proposal of this young band (active since September 2012) is very particular and encompasses elements dear to the dark-rock atmospheres of the '80s, the more melancholic and elegant side of rock, up to what is heard today on the radio. In short, a nice mix, managed with meticulousness by musicians involved one hundred percent and ready, in my opinion, to face the most important step, the recording debut. Tracks like “Between the Lines,” “To Be Covered,” and “Counting Stones” are simple and effective examples to testify to the quality of the offer, full of pathos and aimed at a rock-oriented audience that appreciates sacred monsters like Cure and Depeche Mode and at the same time does not disdain what has been done by more recent rock bands from overseas.

The production entrusted to Pan Studios has yielded excellent results, properly loading the sound of the guitars without thus overshadowing the vocals, the backbone of Compromise. The emotional impact is strong, as are some passages present in the lyrics, where melancholy and hope seem to travel hand in hand. Ultimately, we can say that this “Motionless” is a true surprise, a bet won by the independent label This Is Core, and a source of pride for the national independent scene. Keep it up guys!
