Rating: I have already talked to you about the three girls from Atlanta; actually, it was my alter ego De...Marga... who approximately five years ago saw the band in concert in a tiny venue in Ossola.
Today I am here to present to you, in a few lines, the fourth album of the girls published in March 2014.
Phonographic support purchased after their explosive performance at the "Loggia del Leopardo" in Vogogna, a remote province in Verbano.
There isn't much to say about the twelve songs that make up the work.
A strong desire to party, noise, chaos; with a minimal technique, not caring too much about unnecessary solos, or forced intros.
In short, they don't waste time and go straight on their path.
A path made of residues, of dirty Rock'n'Roll, raw Garage, damn Punk, and Hardcore dynamism.
Nothing new is invented, nothing innovative is perceived in the 37-minute duration of the entire work.
As I have already written before, it feels like listening to the Pixies in skirts having fun mixing their honest sound with B-52's and Ramones!!
A fusion of sounds that, with each new listen, forces me to turn up the volume on my trusty stereo system... for the certain (non) joy of the neighbors.
Vocals alternate with guitar and drums.
It kicks off in full with the opener Follow Me: three very noisy, booming minutes, with plenty of choruses supporting the singing “that smells of hoarseness” of the one moving hands and feet seated at the drums.
Distorted, vibrant, noise guitars in the subsequent Shut Up with a Surf feel.
They pick up the pace in the fiery Springfield Cannonball: traveling at a very fast, driving, furious pace...
The playful and fun Merry Go Round is the so-called well-thought-out episode of the lot.
But immediately after, they return to push, to travel at full speed: the excessive Smother confirms what I have written well so far.
And that's already all; nothing else to add other than to listen to these new Riot Girls.
