Is it possible to create a vigorously rock album without using guitar, bass, drums, and natural voice? Yes.
The wild and relentless drive of these 11 tracks is an adrenaline and psychedelic whirlwind, capable of evoking the typical chills of rock music. A hyper-creative use of electronic instruments that goes beyond creating tight rhythms and beats per minute, adding harmonic motifs in a continuous unfolding of lysergic inventions, is the result of these two brilliant minds.
Tracks that make your head spin, never clichéd, in constant evolution. You start jumping right from the beginning with "Block Rockin' Beat" and enter the eye of the storm with the eight minutes of that little masterpiece that is "Elektrobank", a true bank of sounds, rhythms, and adrenaline. "Setting Sun" is a perfect encounter between electronic and rock with Noel Gallagher's voice as the only human element, but with "It Doesn't Matter" the beats grow vertiginously to almost rhythmic dissonance.
By now the listener is exhausted and craves a moment of peace, which is rightly granted at the end of the album, where the more melodic and dreamlike side of the English duo emerges ("Where Do I Begin" and "The Private Psychedelic Reel"). In conclusion, we could define Dig Your Own Hole an album that shattered barriers and paradoxically had more influence on rock music than on electronic music.
