Some people ask me how I can listen to the Beatles and at the same time the Casualties, who are a band that produces just a lot of noise, unnecessary and superficial noise.
I believe these people are of superhuman ignorance and, although they haven't understood anything about the Punk and Hardcore philosophy, they even allow themselves to criticize with sly and sporadic judgments.
The Casualties, a very important entity in the recent Hardcore scene, are one of the most engaging and deserving Punk bands of the last decade. Pioneers of a Hardcore Punk Rock with strong Oi! influences both in terms of themes and music, the Casualties, with their 1997 "For The Punx", reaffirm that punk still has something to say, that it is not just a faint light left burning in the hearts of some nostalgic souls.
The album is a continuous succession of frantic pieces that give the listener no respite, accompanied by a raw and unrestrained singing that talks about honor, political corruption, society, and love for Punk-Rock, as quoted in the song "Punk Rock Love", their anthem and key point in every live performance. The album's strong point is the perfectly executed and adrenaline-pumping Oi! skinhead-style choruses, which strongly recall the '70s punk so dear to new generation bands. The songs worth mentioning are surely the opener "For The Punx" (a real declaration of intent), the devastating "Riot" which denotes the singer's desire for revolution who screams with overwhelming and immense fury, and the self-titled "Casualties".
Certainly the best album in a discography full of success. Simply pure fury.
