THE REVIEW

Who, after loving them, does not miss them now? With the shortage of ideas circulating, especially if traditional instruments like bass, guitar, drums, and vocals are used? I am talking about the Pixies, of course. She, Kim Deal, was the bassist, and after the band's dissolution announced by Black Francis with a conclusive album titled unmistakably ("Death To The Pixies"), she devoted herself to various projects, first and foremost the Breeders along with her sister Kelley. This is the third album after "Pod," a great continuation of the Pixies' spirit, and "Last Splash" (featuring one of the most beautiful songs of the past decade, "Cannonball"), here comes the new, unexpected return almost nine years after the last record release. The production is by Steve Albini, and immediately you can hear the tin-sounding drums and the incredibly acidified guitar, with the vocals mixed much lower than the instruments, etc. At first listen, it reminds me of PJ Harvey during the "Dry" era, even though those looking for "Cannonball" will probably be disappointed, and those wanting a Pixies revival will only be satisfied with the beautiful "Sinister Foxx." The song "The She" is beautiful, almost lo-fi in style, like Stereolab. Overall, it is a refined album, you can tell a lot of effort was put into it, meticulously caring for details leaving nothing to chance. Credit should be given to this group: they fill that gap between nu-metal and D'n'B. And at least a few ideas emerge...

Summary by Bot

Title TK marks Breeders' reflective and meticulous return after nearly nine years. Produced by Steve Albini, the album features raw drum sounds, acidified guitars, and mixed vocals that evoke PJ Harvey and lo-fi aesthetics. While fans of their hit 'Cannonball' might seek something familiar, the album shines with fresh tracks like 'Sinister Foxx' and 'The She.' An artistic effort bridging alternative rock trends of the early 2000s.
