The wait is over. The kings of pop punk, otherwise known as Bouncing Souls, are back. The comet has crashed into our planet instead of bypassing it; this "Comet" has hit the target, and we cannot help but marvel at it. Another album in their career, another success, once again no trace of any kind of error, excellent like all its predecessors. The coordinates of "Comet" are similar to those of "Anchors Aweigh" or "The Gold Record," more punk than the always superb "Ghosts on the Boardwalk," more pop than "Maniacal Laughter."

We start off in grand style with "Baptized," perhaps the best track on the album, purely Bouncing Souls, unmistakable with the potential to become one of their greatest hits. We continue with "Fast Times" where the quality remains very high and "Static," the first song from the album to be put on the Internet and one of its peaks.

"Do you hear the voice on the radio, screaming noise, noise, noise?"

Another peak is represented by the title track, "Comet," very much in the style of "Ghosts on the Boardwalk" (both the album and the song). If "We Love Fun" and "Infidel" are not particularly exciting (on second thought "Infidel" is quite so, but I've already stated), "DFA" definitely is, with a bass riff reminiscent of the splendors of "How I Spent My Summer Vacation" fused with the new "Comet" style. It closes with "In Sleep," perhaps the most pop rock track on the album, a more than pleasant ballad, and "Ship In A Bottle," another ballad but better than the previous one and an excellent ending for one of the best albums of 2012.

This comet is not a harbinger of misfortune. Silly superstitions.
