Progressive Metal group and to find them you need to start from the Netherlands, let's pay a visit to Arnhem where the only heir of my family is studying and right after we'll move to the seaside at Katwijk, a small beach resort on the North Sea. Here we meet "The Aurora Project," a band that plays symphonic prog leaning towards metal but without neglecting the atmospheric sound. Upon the first listen, references to Floyd, Porcupine Tree, and Anathema come to mind, but without going overboard with the metal, making it enjoyable with harmonies accessible to everyone. This should be their fifth release for me, my first listen, and I think they are worth exploring. Thoughtful and deliberate moments alternate with more nervous ones where symphonic metal predominates in a concise manner that I enjoy in the calmer moments. An unusual album with spoken inserts accompanied by cinematic space atmospheres that smell of sci-fi. Recommended for fans of the genre and I’ll stop here because I have always loved music reviews in newspapers where there was little space available.
