LA RECENSIONE

The Audreys are an Australian band, and usually where people are upside down, the blood (perhaps) reaches the brain better. That's why only small-great bands come from down there.

I won't give you a list; the reason is merely economical, as the cost of an eventual world tour is much higher compared to yet another British-American ragtag group. Therefore, to invest in them, one needs to be sure. Down there, where cigarette smoke doesn't go towards your shoes, are the Audreys, a band we could define as folk-pop noir.

To give you an idea, they might be like Nina Persson with the Devastations backing her, or even Shivaree without the overly famous hit single "Goodnight Moon." If you categorize records in your collection by genre, you might place them quite close to those of the former Belle and Sebastian with the former Screaming Trees. In short, you get the point.

Yes, they are the usual minor group, but fascinating, and I can't do without them anymore.

Down there, where despite everything they manage to water the flowers, the Audreys release their first single from their second work, and it's called "Paradise City," and no, it's not a cover. As I told you, they are acoustic and enveloping night songs... that give you time to enjoy your whiskey or to hold onto your shoulder thinking about the missed opportunity, yes, that one, that damned time...

In short, there in Adelaide, these The Audreys play (clever right from the name) and they do it well; meanwhile, I hit play once again, noticing that the skirts of girls down there cover their legs, just like here.
