THE REVIEW

It's incredible how young musical proposals are fascinated by technique and experimentation in music. After many mathcore bands have emerged recently, we are given an album that, in my opinion, is among the most appreciated in the latest record releases in the core scene.

This "Ruin" by The Architects represents a disturbing blend of Sikth, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and predominantly Converge, delivering an appreciable mathcore with its schizophrenia made of sudden drum attacks and vague breakdown episodes, leaving aside an indie vein in their music and a grind aftertaste, perhaps becoming a bit of sacred monsters in their genre. Despite this, they manage to add good melodies to the power and aggressiveness of the tracks (You'll Find Safety is a good example) that further highlight the atmosphere of decay and sickness that reigns supreme in the album (as inferred from the title and even a bit from the cover).

A fascinating musical proposal that is, from a certain point of view, flaunted left and right by record labels that unfortunately make indie, what is not indie. An enjoyable album but at the same time very technical, especially recommended for fans of the genre.

The Architects' 'Ruin' stands out as a technically impressive mathcore album blending influences from Sikth, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Converge. The album mixes aggressiveness and melody, creating an atmosphere of decay and sickness. While it incorporates indie and grind elements, it stays true to its core roots. Recommended especially for fans of technical and experimental core music.
