“Kain is idolized. The clans tell legends about him, but few know the truth. Once he was mortal like all of us. His contempt for humanity led him to create me and my brothers.
I am Raziel: the first of his lieutenants. I served Kain for an entire millennium. At the dawn of the empire, I stood by his side along with my brothers, together we created the legions that toppled Nosgoth. Over time we continued to evolve, becoming less human and more... divine.
Kain was the first to experience change and emerged renewed into something different. A few years after our Lord, we too would evolve. This continued until I had the urge to surpass my Lord.
For my transgression, I received a new type of reward: agony. The result could only be one: my eternal damnation. I, Raziel, would end up like the traitors and incompetents, burning forever in the bowels of the Lake of the Dead. And so I fell into the depths of the abyss, screaming as white flames devoured me. Indescribable pain, extreme agony, time ceased to exist. Only this torture remained and a deepening hatred for the hypocrisy that had condemned me to such a hell. After an eternity, my torment eased, leading me back from the brink of madness. The descent had destroyed me, yet I still lived.
Raziel... You are brave...
...And Your Blood Is Full Of Honey” is the first work by The Angelic Process, a duo composed of K.Angylus and MDragynfly who had a brief musical life (due to the death of the first of the two members) but were qualitatively above the line. The formula of Our Duo, which would reach its peak with the masterpiece “Weighing Souls With Sand”, is still immature here: it's as if the doom and drone forming the base of this work were like a kind of living being, whose flesh is at times torn by the distant and suffering voice of MDragynfly, at times whipped by the icy guitar riffs, and at times beaten by a martial and alien drum. The atmospheric and shoegaze elements that will be increasingly present in subsequent works are still partially visible, an aspect that will give Our Duo's music a sinister glow almost of hope and redemption, which is not yet perceived in the darkness of this “...And Your Blood Is Full Of Honey”.
It is a work to be absolutely rediscovered, and it deserves a prominent place in the discography of The Angelic Process: a dark and pessimistic album, spectral, a journey into the deepest fears and anxieties of Our Duo, the same fears that eventually overtook K.Angylus, leading to his premature departure.
