London mod band formed in 1963; started as The Boys and evolved into The Action. Line-up featured Reg King, Alan "Bam" King, Mike Evans, Roger Powell, later Pete Watson and Ian Whiteman. Known for R&B roots and a shift toward psych-pop before disbanding in 1967.

Signed briefly to George Martin's Air label for singles; demos for a long-playing release (Rolled Gold) recorded in early 1967 were not issued at the time. Some members later formed the psychedelic project Mighty Baby.

Lewis Tollani's review celebrates Rolled Gold as a rescued 1967 non-album gem by London mods The Action. The review highlights the band's R&B roots, their evolution toward psych-pop, and several standout tracks. The overall judgment is very favorable, stressing historical importance and musical maturity.

For:Fans of 1960s British mod, collectors of lost recordings, listeners of psych-pop and vintage R&B-influenced rock

It is incredible, almost shocking, that there are albums that have remained in the record companies' drawers for years… 35 in the case of this “Rolled Gold”, the unique non-album album by London's The Action.
