Terje Rypdal is a Norwegian guitarist and composer known for his long association with ECM Records and a distinctive, lyrical electric-guitar voice that blends jazz, rock, ambient and classical elements. Active since the 1960s, he has led numerous ensembles, collaborated with figures such as Miroslav Vitous and Jack DeJohnette, and written orchestral and chamber works.
