Surely, this Genoese combo does not lack courage. Who, in this day and age, would pick up an instrument and start making out-of-fashion music?! Only crazy people. Like the Temple Of Deimos, nostalgic for old-school rock’n’roll and everything that is pure noise. A group that has been traveling the Boot for several years and is gradually reaping some great satisfactions, primarily that of producing small gems from time to time for an audience hungry for this type of sound. A real bet, in short, which today we find through “Work to be done,” a record that calls upon desert rock, stoner, and that Nordic rock’n’roll matrix that is deeply rooted in the DNA of these musicians. To all this, add a singing style with a “psychedelic” timbre capable of turning the stories told in each track into a sort of mental journey bordering on the fanciful. As we mentioned earlier, what pleases about this band and this record is its old-school attitude, a raw recording, sounds that are heavy just right, and that healthy enthusiasm of those accustomed to not dealing with business and similar trivialities. Passion, for better or worse, because, in any case, there are some minor flaws (the recording, especially in the rhythm section, could have been designed better, for example), but it fundamentally does not spoil the final result, which is decidedly excellent. Hellacopters, Queens Of The Stone Age, and Kyuss are the bands that have given most of themselves to this project, for their intensity and competitive spirit. If rock’n’roll is your bread and butter, this is the time to give these Temple Of Deimos a listen, true aliens in such a structured musical world.
