Let's start from the cover.

So, on the cover there's, mmm, a graduated Pinocchio with his face obscured being held by the grandparents posing for a memory photo (but why does the grandmother seem to have Asian features?). Oh no, wait, there’s a spot like the ones that form when you look at the sun for too long and squint your eyes! And it’s making everything drip like watercolor... On the door of a typical American house. The album in question is "dc snuff film" by teen suicide (2012, some underground label). And if I've left the initials in lowercase, there's a reason. Damn, how can you capitalize initials when the recording quality is so cheerfully poor that it fuses guitar riffs, voices, and choruses into a jumble of dusty crackles? Even the acoustic moments ooze rust from every single note.

Today I don't feel like using specific words, I've stopped trying to catalogue everything I listen to. However, to be picky, one should use words that end in -gaze, that start with punk-, there’s a -post- thrown somewhere in the mix. The fact is when I listen to teen suicide, the soggy and melancholic voice of the singer, similar to that of a thirteen-year-old Yankee who’s eaten too many donuts, his distorted yet so sweet guitar, so aahjskljh, with all those damn crackles... I really see a sweet, cute, and sensitive teen who might be thinking about suicide, but only because they’re growing up in this year of our lord 1989. And I'm back in that 1989 that I’ve never lived but of which I have a loving and vivid memory. Maybe it’s pure nostalgia in the soul of this Maryland kid playing wearing lilac tights, DCs, and a t-shirt a couple sizes too big with the face of a gangsta rapper printed on it. Deep nostalgia felt by candy gangstas for an inertia-fueled fleeting childhood, kept alive in a strange cutout of time where we will forever remain semi-open-mouthed with pimples and large glasses listening to GesùeMariacatene. After all, "they don’t have a skateboard but they like to skate so they steal the skate from everyone who passes by".

They are teens in search of snuff films: teens in search of life, which is nothing but a hardcore snuff film that might even be fine for some perverted teenager. <3.
