Technophonic Chamber Orchestra

Musical Group

Italian trio combining electronic production with classical instruments. Released Beats And Movements (2002) and Nemoretum Sonata (2004); Nemoretum Sonata includes remixes by Murcof and Daedelus and a cover of Public Image Ltd's "Radio 4".

Nemoretum Sonata (2004) was produced by Minox and includes 12 tracks, a Public Image Ltd cover ('Radio 4'), and remixes by Murcof and Daedelus. The recordings feature a string quartet, clarinet and occasional soprano voice. The project intentionally fuses modern electronics (glitch/minimal techno) with orchestral instrumentation; reviewers compare textures to Aphex Twin, Pan Sonic, Autechre, Tuxedomoon and Tarwater.

Technophonic Chamber Orchestra is an Italian trio noted for fusing modern electronics with classical instruments. Their 2004 album Nemoretum Sonata (following 2002's Beats And Movements) features remixes by Murcof and Daedelus and a cover of Public Image Ltd's "Radio 4". Reviews praise the production, textures and coherent mood while noting some repetitiveness and seriousness in the classical parts.

For:Listeners of ambient/electronic music, fans of classical-electronica crossover, and those interested in Italian electronic releases and notable remixes.

After all, even so, "Nemoretum Sonata" remains one of the best "made in Italy" records I've come across in recent times.
