"Happy Smiles" transliterated: "Vesyelye Ulybki" is the fifth studio album by t.A.T.u.. The album was released on October 17, 2008 (physically in Russia and on iTunes in the rest of the world).

The creation of "Happy Smiles" took 3 years of work. The first single is "Beliy Plaschik". The song is one of the most beautiful on the album, and since it was released in 2007, it left all the fans eager for the album's arrival. The album release was delayed; and it was necessary to wait until October 17, 2008.

"Happy Smiles" opens with an intro, that is, the instrumental of the last song on the album, "Ne Zhaley". A beautiful song. Although it doesn't contain words, it still showcases the electronic "emotions" of the entire album and the new artistic direction that t.A.T.u. has taken. The second track is "Beliy Plaschik", the first single. The third song is the first in English appearing on the album, "You and I". The song is one of the most interesting on the album, although unfortunately, it is very short, like all the songs on the CD.

It continues with "Snegopady", among the best on the album, although many preferred the demo version. "220" (Dvesti d'vadtsat') doesn't quite convince on first listens. It's a rather "insipid" song and only after multiple listens does one come to understand it. The sixth song is called "Marsinskiye Glazya". It's a ballad sung entirely by Lena. The song integrates very well into the album, thanks to Lena's beautiful voice. The seventh song is titled "Chelovechki", very fast and electrifying. After the interlude of "Veseyle Ulybki", the album becomes really interesting. The second English song, "Running Blind", is much more electronic and dance than what t.A.T.u. has provided us so far. The lyrics and sound make the song a potential chart hit, while the chorus immediately sticks in your head thanks to its simple and ingenious melody.

"Fly on the Wall" is one of t.A.T.u.'s best songs ever. It's the longest song on the album and is more than a typical pop song. The last two songs, "Vreyma Luny" and "Ne Zhaley", are among the best songs of the group. "Vreyma Luny" is lively and very "upbeat" while "Ne Zhaley", the closing song of the album, is a ballad with extraordinary voices of Lena and Julia.

"Happy Smiles" is a great album, almost all the songs are in Russian. Don't think that it's the usual stuff from t.A.T.u.; they have grown as artists, and with this album, they prove it. Many fans didn't like the album while many consider it the best.

And... even if you surely won't care, I hope I have sparked a little curiosity in you.
